Artist's Description
Lose yourself in this dazzling mixed media collage of the ocean at sunset. Dusk is my favorite time of day and I love creating scenes that attempt to capture the incredible variety of color and design of that magical time of day. In this work, I blocked out the scene in watercolors and followed with layers of translucent paper collage and gel medium. After drying I used watercolor to enrich and highlight the colors. I added a few more touches with alcohol ink markers and sealed the piece with iridescent gel medium.
About Deborah Cherrin
I create dazzling collages that interpret the natural world through our collective imagination. Inspired by story, whimsy, and wildlife, I am so excited to share my vibrant original designs with you as original art and giclee prints as well as on fabric and textiles such as tea towels, pillows, tote bags, scarves, and other accessories. I have always believed that magic is all around us, and I found mixed media collage to be the best way to portray the joy and wonder in our world. My collages are built of layers of various papers and accented with stamps, watercolor, and alcohol ink. I use an acrylic gel medium to glue and seal my work, and am happiest when my fingers are stuck together with glue and dappled with several colors.
